Chapter 1.1 - Waking Up (1)

“Why are you such a silly child? Whatever was bothering you we can always talk about it. Why did you have to try and kill yourself?”

While she was still half conscious, she could hear a woman crying nonstop next to her bed.

Su Nuo’s eyelashes flickered, and she slowly opened her eyes and looked around the room.

She saw a ceiling that was white like snow, and the smell of disinfectants attacking her mouth and nose. On the patio, little chrysanthemums were flowing in the wind.

She lifted her hand; the tips of her fingers were pale white in color, and her hand were soft as if it has no bones. Layers and layers of gauze were wrapped around her wrist, and pangs of pain continued to fire in her nerves.

When she was still very out of it, someone grabbed her hand. Su Nuo followed the hand and saw the woman who was holding onto it. She was a tender-looking woman who exuded a gentle aura. Her eyes were filled with tears, and she was looking at her dotingly.

Su Nuo opened her mouth and a “Mom” came out of her. Her voice was filled with confusion and uncertainty.

Her word made Mrs. Chen cried even harder, “If anything happened to you, I wouldn’t want to live either!”

Su Nuo was stunned for a long while.

“What are you still standing there for? Get your ass in there quickly!” Came a deep and resonant voice, obviously suppressing his anger, from where the door was.

Su Nuo turned her head and saw a tall and slender man behind a middle-aged man. His hands were shoved inside his pockets, and he was half-leaning on the door frame. The way he looked at her could not be any colder.

“Get inside!” Demanded the middle-aged man harshly, “Apologize to Nuonuo!”

He walked in front of Su Nuo’s bed. He lowered his long and slender phoenix-like eyes. His features were clear, handsome but his mannerism condescending.

He smiled, in a sarcastic and cold way, “Su Nuo. You can commit suicide for me 100 times, but I will never be interested in you.”

Su Nuo’s pupils contracted and her chest hurt all of a sudden; even her breathing became irregular.

Mrs. Chen held her hand tightly and shouted loudly at the young man, “Chen Wang, you sister just regained consciousness. You can’t talk to her like that!”

“My sister?” snickered Chen Wang. “What kind of sister would try to seduce her own brother?”

“You…” Mrs. Chen was so angry she was shaking, “Get the h*ll out of here! Now!”

Chen Wang didn’t even look at Su Nuo on the bed one more time before he took off without any hesitation.

Mr. Chen sighed deeply, “How did we raised a child like him?” Having said that, he immediately added, “Don’t worry, Nuonuo. Daddy will back you up. Whether or not you are the child that we were looking for, you’ll always be the Chen’s daughter-in-law. That will never change.”

The two continued to comfort her, but Su Nuo did not hear another word.

She remembered the banquet after her senior high school graduation. Someone had spiked her drink, and she was carried into a hotel room half-conscious. When she woke up again, she was lying in Chen Wang’s bed, stark naked.

Chen Wang insisted that she was the one who spiked the drink and that she was shameless. He had said all sorts of hurtful words. Su Nuo felt sad and shameless. None of this escaped the eyes of the Chen’s couple after she went home. After their intense questioning, she told them the entire incident.

The Chen’s couple had been doting her entire life and couldn’t let her withstand any grievance, so without informing Chen Wang, they arranged for a banquet at a hotel and invited all sorts of guests and media. It wasn’t so much a banquet rather than an engagement party. They figured they’d make the announcement publicly that Su Nuo would be their one and only daughter-in-law. What they didn’t plan on was that Chen Wang would dump her in front of everyone and announced that she was a fake and not their benefactor’s daughter that they had been looking for after all.

Translator’s rambling: Hi Y’all. I am Fringe Alpaca, the translator of this book. The original author of this book likes to ramble, so I think I can/should too. ^__^ So here goes: Thank goddess I didn’t have to translate all 10x transmigrations before getting to the main story. Thank you, original author. ^__^

I want to write a blurb about why I chose this story to translate, but I can't dive into that without first delving into the relationship between Fuyu and I. To put it simply, Fuyu was first and foremost the culprit who got me into translating webnovels and is now my partner in crime. She is the one-woman team of R&D (researching for webnovels that she enjoys / thinks that our readers will enjoy), editorial (self-explanatory), marketing (polls and other crazy ideas), analytics (do our readers really enjoy the stories that we picked) and administration (posting, TOC, etc.) and I am just the workhorse here. Long story short, she'd first pick out a bunch of stories, and I get to choose from the list provided by her. :)

The reason I picked this story was because, welp, it's different. The original author had a lot of side comments at the end of a chapter. Quite frankly, some of them are funnier than the content itself. The author stated explicitly that she was fed up with stories where the FLs would be abused / ignored  and groveling at the MLs for 85%+ of the story, then all of a sudden the MLs wold have a change of heart and be nice to her and it was a happy ending. So this was a story that was the exact opposite of that. :) I enjoy stories that have factors that make them stand out from the other 1 million transmigration novels. Oh, and the randomness of the story was also quite refreshing.

Finally, thank you for giving this story a try. ^__^

Fuyu’s Note: It was actually my brother (who shall be referred to as Nezumi from hereon) that showed my translations to FA, so really, he’s the first-in-line culprit. Pretty fun to have a friend to translate with though =).
