Chapter 62 - Was there a hole in her brain? (2)

One by one, those people boarded the boat with their bags.

Bei Nuan slowly followed them onto the boat.

She had only gotten here one day late relative to the novel's timeline and encountered so many weird things.

Bei Nuan quickly looked at the riverbank. There was silence over in the wild grass. Lu Xingchi and the others hadn't returned.

"Go." Someone pushed Bei Nuan towards the back of the boat.

The boat wasn't big. There was a big, black motor installed at the back of the boat.

Bei Nuan walked over in despair.

She. Had. No. Idea. Even so, she had to pretend she did.

Bei Nuan didn't dare to delay. The man in the leather jacket had shot someone without warning. The moment he noticed something was wrong, he would shoot her too.

Bei Nuan mustered up her courage and studied the motor. There was a red button on the motor. Bei Nuan pressed it a few times, but there was no response.

Bei Nuan gripped the motor and looked around. She was overjoyed to see a switch with "on and off" written on it.

She quickly turned it on, but nothing happened. She wanted to die.

Bei Nuan suddenly remembered that they would pull a rope in the movies to get the blades on the motor to spin. There was a handle on the top of the motor. Bei Nuan tried pulling it. It really was connected to a rope.

Bei Nuan immediately pulled the handle.

The motor rumbled, and the blades of the motor spun.

Amazing! Yay! Before she had time to be happy, the boat sped towards the riverbank. It was about to slam into the land.

There was nothing else on the motor, only a thin stick handle. Bei Nuan pulled on that handle in a fluster, and the boat turned.

The other people didn't know they had witnessed Bei Nuan's first time piloting a boat. They were still leisurely looking at the river and had no idea that the boat had almost crashed.

The leader of the group heard the sound of the boat and told the person next to him, "Little Hei watch her."

A sturdy young man with very tanned skin agreed and walked over to Bei Nuan.

Bei Nuan knew that he was assigning a person to watch over her to prevent her from playing tricks and sinking the boat to get revenge for the owner of the boat.

The small boat drifted away from the dock.

And so, Bei Nuan, who had failed the driving test five times, piloted a boat for the first time in her life. With a boat full of people that had no idea about their perilous situation, she piloted it straight towards the center of the turbulent river.

Bei Nuan glanced at the shore again. Mother Rabbit, your family's little rabbit is about to obediently fall into a river. Where did you go?

The surging waves on the river caused the boat to sway.  Bei Nuan did her best to control the boat. She wanted to follow the river current to the other side of the river.

Behind her, Little Hei couldn't stand to watch anymore. He reached out and took the handle that controlled the direction of the boat from her.

This Little Hei didn't look too fierce.

He took the initiative to pilot the boat, and Bei Nuan was happy to hand over the responsibility. She didn't want the boat to capsize and follow them in becoming food for the fish.

Bei Nuan secretly tried to worm her way into becoming friends. "You know how to pilot a boat?"

Her voice was sweet and soft. She was so pretty too.

Little Hei looked at her and replied, "Yeah, my family used to fish."

A while later, he took the initiative to ask Bei Nuan, "You don't seem that good at it?"

Not that good at it? She had no clue at all.

"Umm… the boss always piloted it. I haven't piloted the ship much," Bei Nuan lied.

"That person was your boss? No wonder you didn't cry when he died." Little Hei was puzzled. "You don't even know how to pilot a boat. What did your boss hire you for?"

Bei Nuan choked. This really was a good question.

"He hired me to cook for him. He can even burn the pan just by frying an egg," Bei Nuan answered. She gave herself a mental thumbs up.

As they quietly chatted, Bei Nuan suddenly saw Lu Xingchi on the shore.

No wonder they took so long to get back. They had found a boat. It was a wooden boat and looked quite old. Who knows where they had found it. They had just gotten to the dock by paddling.

They probably couldn't find her.

Bei Nuan quickly stood up and raised her hands high, pretending to stretch.
