Chapter 61 - What was in the air could not be defined

Today, she was being picked up by Huo YanXiao’s chauffeur. Settling down in the back seat of the car, Nie AnAn finally has a chance to go through all her text messages.

She opened up her text messages and saw that the last few were all from some travel agencies. She kept scrolling down until she saw the message from Huo YanXiao. She didn’t know what to make of it for a little bit before she finally clicked it open.

On the screen, there was the line, “AnAn, I miss you.”

Nie AnAn stared at the line and then checked the time on it. It was from Saturday afternoon.

She turned her head and looked over at Huo YanXiao, who was sitting next to her.

His outline was masculine and clean. Seemingly noticed her look on him, he turned and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Before he was done saying that, he saw the screen on Nie AnAn’s cellphone.

All of a sudden, the air went quiet.

Huo YanXiao had always thought he’d just tell her that it was part of the game’s punishment when she brought it up. But, for some reason, he suddenly felt like if he said that now, it’d seem even more like he was trying to cover something up.

The atmosphere between them was a bit peculiar, and Nie AnAn seemed to be the first of them who recollected herself. She quickly clicked out of the app. Not sure where else to go after that, she randomly clicked on another app. And that’s when she saw the news on WeChat.

The news surrounding Huo YanXiao’s birth, due to his popularity from “Gold Medal Inn”, was still on the hot searches list.

Nie AnAn clicked on the link and saw the news that had been retweeted by many accounts with massive followers.

By now, the original blogger had already amassed 700,000+ fans.

Nie AnAn carefully read the entire entry before reading the comments below. The chauffeur had driven into the mansion district by then.

After entering the house, Huo YanXiao put his luggage into his room and waved at Nie AnAn. “AnAn, I need to talk to you.”

Nie AnAn had an idea about what he wanted to say. She walked over to Huo YanXiao and took a seat.

“What was said in all those posts might be true,” said Huo YanXiao directly. “If I am the son of Qin Hai, then the Qin’s and the Qi’s will need to be held accountable for their actions towards my mother.”

As though he worried that she didn’t understand what he meant, he repeated himself, “Meaning that, if I am part of the Qin’s, I might have more exchanges with them.”

“Exchanges” might be his word choice, but there was undeniable coldness seeping out from his eyes.

Nie AnAn nodded. “Okay, big brother. Anything that I do to help?”

“You stay at the Nie’s. They will keep you safe,” said Huo YanXiao as he looked at the docile girl sitting in front of him. He stroked her hair and sighed to himself. He wondered what sort of a soul was, right now, inside of her body.

She was probably just in her teens? He wondered where she came from.

By now, Huo YanXiao was 100% certain that it wasn’t the original Nie AnAn inside of her.

And, she wasn’t rebirthed like he was.

Afterall, being rebirthed might change certain things and allow one to see others clearer than before, but it wouldn’t change a person’s personality completely.

Hearing Huo YanXiao’s words, Nie AnAn’s eyes turned a little red. “Are you saying goodbye to me, big brother?”

Huo YanXiao shook his head. “No. Even if I was proven as a part of the Qin’s, I have no intention to move over there.”

Nie AnAn felt relieved all of a sudden. Looking at the man in front of her, an idea occurred all of a sudden.

“Hug me, big brother,” said Nie AnAn as she reached out her arms.

Huo YanXiao paused a little then. Seeing her insecure and coquettish look, he felt a moment of weakness inside of him. He reached out, picked her up, and put her on his lap.

Nie AnAn felt that her heart had returned to where it was. Quickly, she tried to hide away her smile of success. She buried her head in his neck and rubbed up against it.

Huo YanXiao felt a softness in his neck. It tickled a little. His hand on her tightened a little.

He didn’t think about it too much earlier but right now, as the fresh and sweet smell of her spread in his nose, the sensation in his arms and legs started to excite him, and he started to feel uncomfortable.

Time slowed all of a sudden. Every second of it had become clearer to the both of them.

What was in the air could not be defined and was starting to thicken.

All of a sudden, a phone call interrupted all of those thoughts.

Nie AnAn stood up. With blushing cheeks, she said, “Oh, big brother, I am going to go upstairs and unpack now.”

“Mm,” said Huo YanXiao. He waited a few seconds for his breathing to return to normal before he answered his phone.
