Chapter 68 - Ugh. What could I do? She’s so cute. I can’t bring myself to say no. (1)

“Sir.” Zhou Fu was already waiting by the door when Lu Shao arrived home.

“Are you not happy with the school, Sir?” asked Zhou Fu as he took the jacket from Lu Shao.

Zhou Fu had been taking care of Lu Shao for almost 20 years ever since Lu Shao had taken over the management of the Lu’s. He was arguably the one who knew Lu Shao the best in the world other than Lu Shao himself.

Even though Lu Shao didn’t look much different than usual, Zhou Fu could tell from his micro emotions that Mr. Lu wasn’t too happy right now. Or, should he say, he didn’t seem all that calm.

“You are right. I am not that happy about it,” said Lu Shao.

“Is that so?” It was just a school. Zhou Fu didn’t understand why it’d affect Mr. Lu’s mood.

“Well, if that’s the case. I will start working on helping the school to relocate as well as everything else that taking back that piece of land would entail.”

“No, keep the school for now. We can consider investment later.”

Lu Shao’s instructions surprised Zhou Fu.

Lu Shao carried on before Zhou Fu could ask anything. “Go look into something for me.”

“What is it that you’d like me to look into?”

“It’s about me. 13 years ago.”

“What?! You… you mean that incident?” Zhou Fu’s face changed color when he heard that.

13 years ago, Mr. Lu came over to City B to manage some family businesses and was set up by those from an offshoot of the family. That was also the only time that him, as an assistant for the Lu’s, had made a mistake professionally.

But they have already looked into the incident afterward and everybody involved had already been taking care of.

“Not that incident. The other one, on the same day. At Hotel Huating.”

Over the dinner table, after looking at Su Han for a few times, Su Ran finally couldn't help but say, “Umm…”

“Hmm?” Su Han, who was eating a Chinese donut, looked up.

“What did you call me last time?” Su Ran blinked as she looked at Su Han and asked pointedly.

Ever since he had called her “Mom” at the door the other day, Su Ran had tried many different ways in the last few days, but she wasn’t able to get him to repeat that.

So much so that Su Ran thought that she was already having hearing issues at her young age.

Okay, nevermind that he wouldn’t address her as “Mom”, what’s with referring to her as “that”?

Su Han was a little stunned by Su Ran’s words and suddenly was wordless under Su Ran’s stare.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Su Han grumbled and looked away in a very stuck up way.

Su Ran: Oh musical institution, this little kid was trying to act cool in front of her.

Did he think she didn’t realize he was just trying to avoid eye contact with her?

“Okay, never mind. You don’t have to call me that,” said Su Ran as she waved her hand with a look of regret.

She had no idea why she cared so much about him calling her “Mom”. Then again, she really had no idea how traumatized he was with the original “Su Ran”. Ever since she had transmigrated over, with the exception of improvements on material goods such as going from leftovers to 25 yuan takeout, she hasn’t really bonded all that much with her instant son just yet.

As such, there was no reason to force him to do something against his wish. Su Ran had even thought of all the excuses for Su Han.

What she didn’t know was, Su Han didn’t call her “Mom” simply because he felt awkward and didn’t know how to approach it.

“That, um, no, I mean….” Seeing the regretful and at a loss look on Su Ran, Su Han suddenly felt his chest tightened as though he had done something wrong, he started to explain himself, “It was just that…”

Looking at Su Han feeling so troubled and hasn’t been able to find the right words for a while, even Su Ran started feeling bad for him.

“What was it that you were going to tell me?” Su Ran decided to skip over the topic.

Sure enough, Su Han looked much more relaxed after they had skipped over that awkward subject. It didn’t take him long to go back to his purposefully mature self.
