Chapter 30 - First Day (2)

Cheng Huan pulled her lips a little, smiled, and kept on lying, “That’s because Aunty Gu is an adult. It’s okay for adults to have it.”

XingXing was baffled. “Why is that?”

“Because an adult is already done growing and won’t grow anymore. So it doesn’t matter.”

Hearing that explanation, the little kiddo’s face was all bunched up. He tugged at a button on his top and thought about it for a long time before he found the hole in what his mother had said, “Little sister Xiao Jin had some too and she’s a kid also.”

Xiao Jin was the neighbor couple’s daughter and was 11 years old, almost 1.6 meter tall. XingXing just saw her eating the barbequed meat.

“Little sister Xiao Jin is a big kid and you are a small kid. That’s the difference.” Cheng Huan pinched the little kiddo’s puffy cheek a little and said, “You can have more when you are at little sister Xiao Jin’s height.”

XingXing felt that he wasn’t that much shorter than the neighboring little sister, so he nodded confidently after he heard his mother’s words. “I will be taller than her before you know it!”

Ever since he had made the “speech” that he’d grow taller than the neighbor little sister, XingXing focused a lot on his height.

Cheng Huan put a chart up in the house, and the little kiddo would go and measure himself every once so often. He looked left; he looked right; the number doesn’t seem to change at all. Sometimes it even went backward.

XingXing panicked and ran over to Cheng Huan. Grabbing her arm, he called out, “Mom, I became smaller!”

“Not smaller, shorter.” While Cheng Huan was busy skewering the meats, she explained to XingXing the relationship between gravity and height.

XingXing didn’t understand most of what she said except the fact that he was taller in the morning than at night.

“Okay, I will only measure myself in the morning from now on!” said XingXing once he figured that out. He plopped himself down on the chair next to Cheng Huan and watched her work. “Is mommy making more meat skewers?”

“Yes, mommy needs to make these meat skewers to make money. Once mommy has made money, she can buy toys for XingXing.”

The little kiddo was happy for a little while after he heard about toys, but the smile on his face was short lived. “Mommy is going to go out again?”

XingXing remembered that his mother used to say she was going to go make money too, then he wouldn’t see her for the entire day. XingXing would be locked up in the house and be hungry and couldn’t get out. Which was why he wasn’t particularly happy hearing that Cheng Huan was going to go make money.

Cheng Huan had no idea about these details and just nodded casually and acknowledged him.

As soon as she had finished saying that, the little boy next to her pouted right away and said, “I want to go with mommy.”

Cheng Huan frowned.

Running a food stand was a lot of work and there was a lot to take care of. She wouldn’t be able to watch a child at the same time.

She opened her mouth and was about to turn him down, but before she could say a word, XingXing had already thrown his arms around her waist.

“Mommy, I want to be with you~~~”

Immediately, Cheng Huan’s decision started to waver.

Under the little kiddo’s begging and whining, Cheng Huan finally agreed that he could go with her.
