Chapter 27 - It didn't look like she was up to anything good (3)

Leng Mushi remembered that annoying plot now.

She had been wondering why this commotion started after the rooms were assigned. The two teenagers looked like they were fighting over a room in courtyard #4. Based on the window where the clothes and bedding were thrown out, that room was right next to the latrine. There was no reason to fight over a room with such a bad location.

However, it made sense if this was a plot contrivance for the fight to happen where the heroine could see. She went to persuade them to stop fighting when her clothes were disheveled from being in a hurry. With a beauty that surpassed others, she would naturally encounter something that every heroine in a novel would encounter, s*xual harassment.

And of course, it was that rich, young master, who continued to be domineering even after entering the Taichu Sect that harassed her. However, how could a bastard like him get away with harassing the hero's woman?

Leng Mushi didn't know how long it would take the disciples in charge of accommodations to arrive, but the hero would definitely arrive.

After closing the window, Leng Mushi laid back on her little bed. She silently counted to ten. Right after getting to three, she heard an "Ouch!"

That voice belonged to the rich, young master. Xiao Mian was so quick! He deserved to be a couple with someone like Leng Tianyin, a snow fairy type that meddled in other people's business.

A hero saving a beauty was a staple beautiful scene in novels, but she was neither the hero nor the heroine, but the villainess that had to go out to stir things up. That scene was no longer so wonderful.

What happened next was of course a villainess that favored an outsider.

That rich, young master dared to be so arrogant because he had someone to rely on in the Taichu Sect. In the following plot, as the villainess, she would seek out the rich, young master and work with him to frame Leng Tianyin.

As Leng Mushi laid on the bed, she recalled what happened in the novel. They used an herb that could suppress spiritual root(s) from being detected during the test. The young master was the one that got the herb, and she was the one that drugged Leng Tianyin. The effects lasted a month, and Leng Tianyin wasn't able to show her spiritual root on the day of the test..

Of course, as in all novels, the more the heroine suffered from being framed, the greater her turnaround. This trick was exposed on the spot by the heroine's future master, who usually never bothered to show up, and the heroine was accepted as a disciple…

That was a story for another time. The law had begun to heat up, indicating that she had to participate in the plot. However, Leng Mushi continued to calmly lie there and didn't move.

She was so annoyed. If she wanted to drug Leng Tianyin, she would have to go see her every day. That was more vexing than the actual drugging part.

Leng Mushi struggled to make a decision after weighing the pros and cons. After a while, she suddenly sat up on the bed, grabbed handfuls of her tied up hair, and ended up messing it up with her pulling.

She paced around the room like a trapped animal. She couldn't find any suitable item. In the end, she saw the food box that Zhu Rong gave her last night and opened it. The chenhuo beast jerky was about as thick as an arm and felt like it would be very tough to chew through. She stuffed it in her mouth to try it out. Oh, nice, just right.

She returned to the bed, neatly lay down, bit down on the jerky, and prepared to bear through the pain of resisting the plot.

It was just soul-burning paining. She had experienced it before. It wasn't a big deal!

But when the pain really started, Leng Mushi's vision went black. She curled up like a maggot. Sweat poured down her face like rain. Even though her gums felt painful from biting down so hard, her teeth didn't even make an indent on the jerky.

While Leng Mushi was half-dead from pain, she still found the time to think that no wonder Xiao Mian didn't want Zhu Rong's homemade jerky. Could you still survive after eating this?!

However, it was great for gagging her mouth and preventing herself from accidentally biting her tongue. Leng Mushi clutched the blanket and accidentally kicked off one of her shoes. Her clothes got messy from her rolling around in bed. Her belt came off. It was so painful, and she could only suppress her screams. Otherwise, people would hear her squeals that sounded like a pig being slaughtered. Her face was red. Even the corner of her eyes were red as if blood was about to drip out.

Why did it feel so much worse than the last time she went against the plot?!

Ahh! Help!

Leng Mushi's long hair was completely loose, and her clothes were soaked with sweat. She almost lost consciousness several times. She stubbornly clenched her teeth… no, she endured by biting down on the jerky.

At some point, she fell off the bed.

When Leng Mushi finally got through the punishment, Fenlian came out of her body. Fenlian hadn't absorbed blood for a while, and she had to use up demonic energy to hide herself. Her body had become flat, and she walked unsteadily. Even so, she supported Leng Mushi off the floor and onto the bed with an anxious expression. She almost broke her arm doing so.

"What's going on? What happened? I didn't find anything strange with your body," Fenlian asked, "Do you have an unmentionable illness?"

Leng Mushi didn't have the strength to talk. She blinked at her. Lying on the bed, she angrily said, "It's an old illness…"

Leng Mushi didn't know what was wrong with Fenlian. She didn't even draw facial features for herself. Her faceless body that was just empty twisted skin was more terrifying than a ghost. Leng Mushi wanted to faint even more from seeing her. Fortunately, Fenlian soon returned back into Leng Mushi's body.

This time, the law didn't say anything like "Why bother?" Instead, he sighed and softly said, "get some sleep" as if he was whispering into her ear.

Leng Mushi was light-headed. She was still holding her drool-stained jerky. It was human nature to forget past pains. After getting through it, she actually felt that the pain wasn't that bad. She even felt very comfortable and loose-limbed as if she had gotten a full-body massage.

She quirked her lips. Just as she was about to sleep, she heard a knock on the door.

She swallowed her saliva and thought she had misheard, but soon, she heard another knock. She clearly heard Leng Tianyin's voice that sounded like she was trying to summon someone back from the dead.

"Older sister, are you there?" Leng Tianyin asked, "It's time to eat lunch. Let's go to Linggu Hall together. Can I come in?"

No, you can't. Leng Mushi was so annoyed. She wanted to scream "go away" towards the door. She was in terrible pain because of that rotten thing. She didn't want to see Leng Tianyin!

However, her teeth still hurt from biting down, and her throat felt uncomfortable. She didn't want to speak. And yet, Leng Tianyin persistently knocked on the door. So annoying.

Leng Mushi regained some strength after lying on the bed for a while. Leng Tianyin still didn't leave. Leng Mushi couldn't endure it anymore. She gritted her teeth and propped herself up by holding on the edge of the bed. Relying on her anger, she walked to the door with trembling legs. She meant to yank the door open, but she only had the strength to pull the door back a crack.

Through the crack in the door, she saw Leng Tianyin's hateful face. She raised the jerky that was tougher than a club in front of her as a weapon and pointed it at Leng Tianyin's nose. While breathing heavily, she hoarsely said, "Go away. I'm busy…"

Leng Tianyin leaned back in fright. Her beautiful eyes widened as she stared cross-eyed at the jerky pointed at her nose.

At this moment, the door opened a little bit more, and more figures became visible. Leng Tianyin wasn't the only one outside her door. There was also Xiao Mian… as well as his shixiongs, Yi Tu and Xing Zhou.

They had all come here to go eat lunch with her.

As for Leng Mushi, she was leaning on the door frame. Her legs were wobbly, and her face was flushed. She was breathing heavily as if she had fought over 300 rounds. Her clothing and hair were disheveled, and she was holding the jerky that was as thick as an arm and glistening with her saliva…. And she had said she was busy.

No matter how anyone looked at it, it didn't look like she was up to anything good.

T/N: While this novel is very much my cup of tea, and there are a lot of things I enjoy about it, I'm not in the mood to translate this type of novel at the moment. I flipflop from liking stories where a flawed protagonist has to struggle to survive to slice-of-like stories with an idealized protagonist.

Anyways, if anyone wants to pick it up, you have my blessings. If not, I might come back to it when I'm in a more cheerful mood.
