After a period of suffocating silence, Xiao Mian closed his lips that slightly parted in shock. He turned sideways to walk around Leng Mushi and return to the campfire.
However, Leng Mushi had messed up her lines and hadn't jumped off the cliff yet. She couldn't let him leave, so she boldly grabbed his wrist.
"Brother Xiao, let me explain. I meant to say that I like your ethereal beauty and I want to have your child…"
"Ahem!" Leng Mushi cleared her throat and straightened her words. "I meant to say you look like my cousin. I like you!"
After she said those words, there was another period of strange silence. The night wind carried the sharp chirps of several grasshoppers as if they were mocking her twisted tongue.
Xiao Mian was probably shocked by Leng Mushi's fearless behavior. It took him a while to respond. Under the moonlight, his face was covered by a soft light, making him look even more like an celestial immortal instead of a mortal.
He looked like he was only gently raising his hand, and Leng Mushi's hand became empty. He had broken free of her grip as easily as if he was brushing off a blade of grass from his clothes.
He spoke with an utterly calm voice, "Miss Leng, it's late. Evil monsters have frequently appeared in this area. Follow me back to the camp and rest inside the formation."
Leng Mushi thought; she couldn't give up. If she didn't act out this scene, she would definitely be punished tomorrow. She didn't want to experience that excruciating pain again!
And so, when Xiao Mian walked around her and towards the group, she grabbed his belt. Of course, she meant to grab his arm, but in her panic, she didn't care and just ran away while pulling on it.
Even though Leng Mushi had said a lot of nonsense, Xiao Mian didn't have his guard up against a mortal. He never thought she would suddenly take action.
Even though Leng Mushi was a slender woman, she grabbed the belt as if her life depended on it. The force of her pull caused Xiao Mian to stagger backwards a step. He grabbed the tree and managed to not fall, but his belt couldn't bear the force and ripped.
Xiao Mian froze. He turned around and looked at the woman that was running deeper into the forest. His neat white robe fell open, but that wasn't important right now. There was an important item hanging from his jade buckle.
He didn't even take the time to close his robe and immediately chased after her. At the same time, he picked up his sword and jade accessory that had fallen to the ground when his belt broke. He unsheathed Shuiyun, his icy awe-inspiring spiritual sword, and rushed towards Leng Mushi.
