Chapter 106 - If she wanted to find someone to protect her, shouldn't she choose him over Jiang Fei? (2)

What was so impressive about knowing how to cook?

Even if he had never cooked, he had eaten at many famous restaurants around the world from childhood to adulthood. He had eaten countless delicious foods, so he didn't think cooking was that complicated. It was merely cutting ingredients, turning on the stove, putting all the ingredients together, and then heating them up. How difficult could that be?

According to his ideas about cooking, delicious food relied 30% on cooking skills and 70% on the quality of the ingredients. He didn't think much of dishes with sauces that had strong flavors and smells, but Bei Nuan seemed to like those types of dishes.

Bei Nuan had no clue about Lu Xingchi's complicated mood. She was preoccupied with thinking of ways to increase her Holy Mother value as she chatted with Jiang Fei.

She concluded there were absolutely no other opportunities here. Shui University's students had done a good job with organizing. The water, electricity, and gas hadn't been cut off yet either. Everyone had food to eat, and their minds were at peace. With everything methodically arranged, there was no place for her to start.

"Are you hungry yet? I'll go upstairs to cook lunch," Jiang Fei suggested.

"Oh." Bei Nuan absent-mindedly followed him upstairs. She didn't notice that Lu Xingchi was staring at her and engrossed.

Jiang Fei had already minced the meat needed for braised meatballs earlier that morning.

He asked Bei Nuan for several water chestnuts. He said he would chop them up and mix them with minced meat. Water chestnuts add a nice crisp component to the meatballs and cut down on the fattiness, making the dish even tastier.

Bei Nuan wanted to help Jiang Fei wash the water chestnuts, but he refused, "You don't have to do that. I'll do it."

Bei Nuan felt a bit sorry to do nothing. "I can't let you do everything."

"It's okay." Jiang Fei smiled and glanced over at Lu Xingchi. "The kitchen is smoky and oily. How can I bear to stand by and do nothing while you cook? Just keep me company."

And so, Bei Nuan just stayed next to him and watched him pare the water chestnut with a knife.

Jiang Fei was a master with the knife. His movements were so fast that it looked like the knife was flying, and she could only see the dazzling cold light of the blade.

Just as Bei Nuan was dazzled, Jiang Fe softly cleared his throat and stopped. A drop of blood was oozing out from his finger.

As it turned out, even people who were beautifully deft with knives could accidentally cut themselves?

Bei Nuan was briefly stunned. She quickly recovered and realized this was a heaven-sent opportunity for her to increase her Holy Mother value. Awesome!

"Wait, don't move!" Bei Nuan shouted, startling everyone in the small cafeteria.

She took out a giant multi-layer first aid kit from her pocket space, energetically opened each layer, took out a bunch of things, and placed them in a row on the counter.

Jiang Fei held up his bleeding finger and quietly waited for her to bandage it.

Bei Nuan washed and dried his finger, dabbed a bit of hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the cut, and then she picked up a huge roll of gauze and started wrapping layer after layer around his finger.

Lu Xingchi silently watched.

Tang Tang walked over to take a look and asked with concern, "How big is the cut? Based on your attitude, it must be very serious, right?"

Bei Nuan was busy. She gestured with two fingers that were almost touching. "It's about this big."

Tang Tang was a bit speechless. "That's tiny. Why not use a band-aid?"

Bei Nuan gave a plausible explanation, "Band-aids aren't breathable. They're not as good as gauze. Isn't that right, Dr. Du?"

Du Ruo was busy playing phone games and casually replied, "Mmn."

Bei Nuan was finally done. She looked at the fruits of her labor with satisfaction.

Jiang Fei let out a long-sigh. His slender finger had more than doubled in width from the gauze.

Bei Nuan sincerely lamented, "Oh, you're too pitiful! You're injured. Go take a rest?"

She glanced at the progress bar for her Holy Mother value. Sure enough, after her useless and exaggerated display, her Holy Mother value had scooted forward a bit.

"No need, I'm okay." Jiang Fei smiled at Bei Nuan. He didn't mind how cumbersome his oddly wrapped finger was. He continued paring the water chestnuts.

After he was done paring, he finely minced the water chestnuts. He took out the prepared minced meat from this morning and mixed the meat, water chestnuts, an egg, scallions, and seasoning together. After shaping the meat mixture into balls, he lowered them into the pot and fried them. The meatballs quickly turned into a beautiful golden brown.

The aroma of fried meatballs wafted through the small cafeteria. Everyone almost couldn't help wanting to eat some.

However, Jiang Fei didn't let them. He added more seasoning to the pot to make the sauce and simmered the fried meatballs.

Lu Xingchi came over as soon as Jiang Fei finished cooking and asked Bei Nuan for two eggs and a pot.
