Chapter 35 - An angel in the human world (1)

"You told me to buy daily necessities and buy as much as possible with your credit card," Bei Nuan innocently explained herself and dragged Du Ruo into it, "When Du Ruo was buying a pile of board games, I saw a furniture store next door. It had pretty nice furniture."

Du Ruo immediately stated, "It is pretty nice. Anyways, your pocket space has plenty of free space."

She turned to Lu Xingchi. "It's just a table. It's not any more outlandish than the portable outdoor shower you bought, right?"

Anyways, no one had the space to judge anyone else. They were all ridiculous. None of them had the correct attitude about facing apocalyptic times.

Bei Nuan took out a camping lantern and hesitated. "Should we light the lantern? Would it attract zombies?"

"That's not a problem." Lu Xingchi patted his crossbow.

Yeah, they had Lu Xingchi. Plus, this place was so remote that the wildlife here hadn't even heard of disco dancing.

Although there was radiant light from the distant full moon, Bei Nuan still turned on the camping lantern. The warm yellow light illuminated the tabletop.

After turning on the portable butane stove, Bei Nuan took out the hot pot she had finished cooking in the hotel. The soup was still boiling. As the soup bubbled away, the scent assailed their noses. The lamb meat in the hot pot was still tender.

The table was filled with sliced lamb meat and fatty beef, duck intestine, ox aorta, tofu skin, fish ball, bamboo fungus, and enoki mushroom. There were also dipping sauces for the hot pot and disposable tableware.

"Everything is good, but there might be mosquitoes." Du Ruo sat down.

Bei Nuan pulled out a box like she was performing a trick. The box contained a giant mosquito net with a dome top. It also came with a circular support. She hung the circular support on a branch, and the draped mosquito net was just big enough to cover the table and chairs.

Lu Xingchi pulled out a chair and sat down. He had already experienced the apocalypse once. The living conditions had been harsh then. Compressed biscuits and canned food were luxury items. Expired bread was hotly contested. Sometimes, there wasn't even clean water for drinking.

Relying on his strong combat power, he had searched for supplies in the most dangerous places to provide for his team. To be honest, the living conditions of his teammates were much better than most people's.

And yet, since they often had to abandon their vehicles and walk and not be weighed down in case they had to fight, there was a limit to how much they could bring even if they did find good supplies. At best, they were full half of the time.

After he was given a second chance at life, he had been in a rush to prepare for the zombie apocalypse. It had been a long time since he had sat down to eat a good meal.

The smell from the hot pot had quickly overtaken the fresh plant scent in the nighttime air. Their feasting was in full swing.

Tonight's ox aorta was chewy and crunchy. Bei Nuan and Du Ruo went all out to snatch the pieces.

Du Ruo was no match for Bei Nuan and suddenly asked, "Should we feed the guy in the jeep?"

Oh yeah, him. She had forgotten him.

Bei Nuan looked at the hot pot. There was nothing in there that would be suitable for an injured person. She did her best to remember what was written about the man in the novel.

It was written in the novel that Bei Nuan had wanted to fed him compressed biscuits and that Jiang Fei was feverish and out of it. He wasn't able to swallow the hard and dry compressed biscuits, and there was nothing else to feed him. Thus, the novel's Bei Nuan chewed the biscuits and fed the food she had chewed to him.

Fed. Him. Her. Chewed. Food.

Bei Nuan would rather die than do that.

Bei Nuan rummaged through her inventory. From the pile of large boxes taken from the convenience store, she miraculously found a box of unopened baby food. It was nutritious puree for babies in squeezable pouches. Simply perfect.

Bei Nuan went over to the jeep with a squeezable pouch.

Jiang Fei was lying motionless in the back seat. His head was bandaged, and his dark eyelashes were closed. He seemed to have heard someone approaching. He made a sound from his throat, but it wasn't clear.

Bei Nuan twisted off the small plastic cap and squeezed out a bit of puree on his pale chapped lips.

As if he felt the coldness, he pursed his lips and ate that bit of puree.

Getting encouragement, Bei Nuan fed him more puree.

With his eyes closed, he slowly ate. It was a struggle for him to eat, but he still did his best to swallow the food. This was a person that really wanted to live.

Holding the pouch, Bei Nuan fed him. After only a little while, she started being half-hearted. Not only was her arm getting a bit sore, if she didn't go back now, Du Ruo, that greedy cat, would have eaten all of the ox aorta.

Bei Nuan looked at Jiang Fei, who was taking forever to finish eating, and came up with a crooked idea.
